Jesse B. Gronemeyer

Jesse B. Gronemeyer ’02, DeWitt, will be inducted into the Class of 2020 Doane University Hall of Fame on March 27, 2020.

Eric L. Stearns

Class of '03, College of Arts and Sciences

Eric L. Stearns’03, Lincoln, is to be honored  at the 42nd annual Mayor’s Arts Awards on April 14th at Pinnacle Bank Arena.  Stearns is receiving the Heart of the Arts Award, and is known for his outreach to students across the region.  Stearns is an associate professor of art at Doane University.

Nicole L. Stehlik

Class of '03, College of Arts and Sciences

Nicole L. Stehlik ’03, Castle Pines, Colo., will be inducted into the Class of 2020 Doane University Hall of Fame on March 27, 2020.

Helen Abdali Soosan Fagen

Class of '08, College of Professional Studies

Helen Abdali Soosan Fagen ’08L, Lincoln, was featured in the January 12th issue of the Lincoln Journal Star.  Fagan was interviewed for her personal perspective about Iranians living in Nebraska and the unrest in Iran.

Maureen Beck Halama

Class of '17, Master of Education

Maureen Beck Halama  ’12, ’17E, Crete, was featured in the December 2019 issue of Band and Orchestra Magazine as one of the 50 Directors that Make a Difference.  Halama was recognized for her work at Fairbury Public Schools where she led the instrumental music program for concert and jazz band.  One music director from each of the 50 states was selected for their accomplishments leading school music programs. Halama is currently a K-12 vocal music instructor at Wilber-Clatonia Public Schools.

Megan O’Brien Sloup

Megan O’Brien Sloup  ’15, ’17E, Lincoln, was recognized by the Boy Scouts of America and received the Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award.  This award is given to only 5 educators in southeast Nebraska. Megan is a vocal music instructor at Zeman Elementary School in Lincoln.

Katie Brauer Morris

Class of '13, College of Arts and Sciences

Katie Brauer Morris ’13, Omaha, was this year’s recipient of the Nebraska Young Music Educator of the Year Award presented by the Nebraska Music Educators Association at its state conference and convention November 21-23.  Morris teaches K-5 general music at Elliott Elementary in Lincoln.
