Kayleigh A. Schadwinkel and Zachary J. Hickman
Kayleigh A. Schadwinkel ’16 and Zachary J. Hickman ’17, Highlands Ranch, Colo. were married on December 28, 2019 in Scottsbluff. Kayleigh and Zach met at a country swing dance night on Doane's Crete Campus and then got to know each other better through working together on Kayleigh’s POYDS Dance Club Theater Dance Production in April 2016. Zach is a social studies and economics teacher for Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado and volunteers as an assistant for the Valor Christian Track and Field Program. Kayleigh is running two businesses, POYDS Dance Company and a traveling professional choreography business, Kayleigh Schadwinkel Dance & Choreography in which she travels across the midwestern portion of the United States providing dance and choreography services.
Maureen Beck Halama
Maureen Beck Halama ’12, ’17E, Crete, was featured in the December 2019 issue of Band and Orchestra Magazine as one of the 50 Directors that Make a Difference. Halama was recognized for her work at Fairbury Public Schools where she led the instrumental music program for concert and jazz band. One music director from each of the 50 states was selected for their accomplishments leading school music programs. Halama is currently a K-12 vocal music instructor at Wilber-Clatonia Public Schools.
Megan O’Brien Sloup
Megan O’Brien Sloup ’15, ’17E, Lincoln, was recognized by the Boy Scouts of America and received the Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award. This award is given to only 5 educators in southeast Nebraska. Megan is a vocal music instructor at Zeman Elementary School in Lincoln.

Grace recently earned her Master’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her thesis was entitled “Social Networks & Science Identity: An Exploration of Science Identity and the Peer Group among Middle Schoolers.”
