Kayleigh A. Schadwinkel ’16 and Zachary J. Hickman ’17, Highlands Ranch, Colo. were married on December 28, 2019 in Scottsbluff. Kayleigh and Zach met at a country swing dance night on Doane's Crete Campus and then got to know each other better through working together on Kayleigh’s POYDS Dance Club Theater Dance Production in April 2016.  Zach is a social studies and economics teacher for Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado and volunteers as an assistant for the Valor Christian Track and Field Program. Kayleigh is running two businesses, POYDS Dance Company and a traveling professional choreography business, Kayleigh Schadwinkel Dance & Choreography in which she travels across the midwestern portion of the United States providing dance and choreography services.Â

Breanna Fye McDonald ’16, Phillips, is the first recipient of the Dr. E. Eugene Miller Legacy Scholarship. The family of Dr. Gene Miller created an annual scholarship fund to invest in the students of Grand Island by investing in the quality of their educators. This fund will offer a scholarship to a Grand Island Public School educator who is pursuing postgraduate level coursework to advance their professional development as a teacher, counselor or administrator. Breanna is a kindergarten teacher with Grand Island Public Schools and is pursuing a degree in Educational Leadership at Doane University.
