Application Process - Master of Education in School Counseling

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0
Application Process
  1. Complete the Online Application - free to file! The $30 application fee will not be charged until your first term of enrollment

  2. Complete the following: Self Reporting Survey
  3. Provide an official transcript from the undergraduate institution where you earned your bachelor degree and any graduate institution you attended (see contact information below for mailing or parchment address).
  4. Request three letters of recommendation from colleagues, administrators, or other professionals who can assess your ability to succeed in a graduate level program.
  5. Initial meeting and approval from Program Director.
Additional Requirements (complete the option that matches your certification status):
  1. If you hold a current Nebraska teaching certificate:
    • Provide a copy of your current teaching certificate 
  2. If you do not hold a current Nebraska teaching certificate:
    • Complete the Praxis I CORE (Core Academic Skills for Educators) test with passing scores (Reading, Math & Writing) within the first 9 credit hours in the School Counseling program.
    • Complete Disclosure form. The applicant must affirm that he/she has not been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving abuse, neglect, or sexual misconduct. 
    • Complete a background check through One Source. Background check must be complete prior to coursework that requires entry into school system.
