Management Analysts

Conduct organizational studies and evaluations, design systems and procedures, conduct work simplification and measurement studies, and prepare operations and procedures manuals to assist management in operating more efficiently and effectively.

Production Managers

Plan, direct, or coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products per cost, quality, and quantity specifications.
Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints. Direct or coordinate production, processing, distribution, or marketing activities of industrial organizations. Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing the production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports, to identify problems.

Human Resources Specialists

Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software. Compensation and Benefits Managers

Job Outlook = +5% from 2016 - 2026
Conduct programs of compensation and benefits and job analysis for employer. Evaluate job positions, determining the classification, exempt or non-exempt status, and salary. Ensure company compliance with federal and state laws, including reporting requirements. Prepare occupational classifications, job descriptions, and salary scales.

Requirements for the Professional Studies in Business Major:

Complete one emphasis chosen from the following:

General Business

Choose three courses at the 300/400 level.

The three courses must be from three of the following four areas and must total a minimum of six semester credits (excluding internship credits).



Self-Designed Emphasis

A student majoring in Professional Studies in Business may apply to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies for a Self-Designed emphasis. To apply for the Self-Designed Emphasis, the student must meet the following criteria:

No more than 48 credits of BUS courses may apply toward graduation.

General Business Emphasis

The general business emphasis provides students with a solid base of knowledge from key business principals including:

The student learns how to apply these theories to real-world problems in order to work effectively in the fast-paced, constantly evolving, business world.

Doane Master of Arts in Management graduate Ryan Rutar ’15A was recognized at the Nebraska Dental Hygienists Association annual convention as the recipient of the 2019 Nebraska Dental Hygienist of the Year. Rutar becomes the first male in Nebraska to ever receive this award.
