Oregon Trail Band Director Nomination & Recommendation Form

The 11th annual Oregon Trail Band sponsored by Doane University will be held Monday, January 8, 2018, at Gering High School Auditorium. There will be one band which will be conducted by Dr. Jay W. Gilbert. Fifteen schools participated last year, and we hope you will consider joining us this year. We thank Randy Raines for his willingness to host this event at Gering High School.

This year the directors have commission Jay to write a piece celebrating ten years of the Oregon Trail Band. Jay has composed two pieces for the OTB. The first is a fully instrumentated band composition titled: Scenes from The Red Badge of Courage, a book by Stephen Crane. The second is a reduced instrumentation work titled: Walking Tune. If you would like to participate in the consortium, please contact Randy Raines at Gering High School.
