Apply your passions and skills to create positive social change in our local communities through volunteer opportunities in a variety of settings: nonprofit organizations, schools, government agencies and community- and faith-based groups.

Community dinner

Every campus and Community needs time and place to come together. What better way to do this than with warm food around tables in friendship, laughter and connectedness. We invite Doane University students, faculty, staff and community members to our table to enjoy a free pancake meal at the United Church of Christ, First congregational in Crete from 5:00pm - 6:30pm.  Upcoming dates include: Sep. 25; Oct. 23 and Nov. 27. 

 

alternative break trips

Designed to develop students into active citizens in local, national and global communities through direct service experiences. Trips occur during Fall Break (October 13 - 17, 2017) and Spring Break (March 12 - 16, 2018). An application process and multi week orientation will be completed before the trip begins. Trips are limited to 10 students and 1 trip advisor.

 

Mobile Food Pantry

The Mobile Food Pantry is held on the third Tuesday of every month at Doane University, Butler Gym from Noon - 1:00pm and is open to any area community member, including Doane students, faculty and staff, who is in need of hunger-relief. Upcoming dates include: Jun 20; July 18; Aug. 15; Sep. 19; Oct. 17; Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.

 

Four Steps to Find Volunteer Opportunities

Step 1: Log into your Doane email address, click the Gmail calendar tab and then search "Volunteer Doane" after that the calendar will appear.
 
Step 2: Click on one of the various event tabs to learn more about a specific volunteer opportunity.
 
Step 3: Reach out to the contact person listed inside the event tab to confirm your volunteer experience.
 
Step 4: Utilize the excel that will be located inside the event tab to track your service hours. At the end of the semester you will be provided with a volunteer report to highlight all the hard work you did throughout the semester.
