You’ve likely heard the saying “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Few of us realize the truth behind this phrase as much as this webinar’s special guest presenter, Dr. Robert Muckel, Professor Emeritus of Biology at Doane.
Both biology and nature are constants in our everyday lives, but so many of us take both of these things for granted. When we stop to really admire and appreciate our surroundings and make-up, that’s when we can fully grasp their true beauty and importance.
Dr. Muckel will take webinar viewers on a journey by reminiscing on his days spent on Doane’s 300-acre campus as well as his time spent photographing nature in our great state as well. You won’t want to miss this!

About Dr. Robert Muckel:
Professor Emeritus Dr. Robert Muckel taught in the biological sciences for a total of 51 years, with 45 of those years spent at Doane College. Dr. Muckel received his bachelor’s degree in biology and education from Nebraska Wesleyan, his Master of Science in Biology from Kansas State Teachers College, and his doctorate in life sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He also taught and did research at several universities across the country with support from the National Science Foundation.
Dr. Muckel was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 1995 by Doane’s Student Congress, was elected as the Katherine Buell Endowed Chair of Science in 1998, and was named the Aksarben Outstanding Educator in 1990. The Robert D Muckel Tri Beta Award, a scholarship awarded annually to an outstanding biology student, was created in his honor.
