Human Anatomy for Health Professionals

In this system-based anatomy course, students will examine the foundations of basic human anatomy for every major organ system and the relationships between systems; categorize the major functions and significance of each system, particularly from the perspective of a future healthcare worker; compare the relevance of organ system features in wellness and pathology, and engage in the study of anatomy from a system-based approach.

By the end of this course, students will be able to describe the major structures of the human body and their functions as part of the major organ systems.

Note For successful completion of this course, it is recommended that students are familiar with BIOL 125: Biology I, BIOL 126: Biology II or their equivalents.

Courses Include

  • illustration of a beaker. Labs
Labs fall into three categories: at-home labs, laboratory kits and virtual labs. At-home labs use commonly found household items or things that can easily be purchased and come with a set of instructions on how to complete the lab. Laboratory kits are very similar to at home-labs – items and directions required to complete the lab are sent directly to you via the purchase of a lab kit. Virtual labs use in-house designed simulations which walk you through any experiment and will ask you lab-related questions. All labs may require a video of you performing the lab and/or a completed lab report.
