In our increasingly connected world, the ability to communicate correctly has never been more critical. Doane University’s Strategic Communication Major prepares students to become an expert in this broad field.

From learning the theories behind public speaking, managing interpersonal communication, political rhetoric, and public relations - students receive a broad but detailed understanding of essential communication strategies.

Our graduates are valued members of the businesses and nonprofit organizations they are a part of, and work in roles such as communications consultants, marketing managers and public relations directors

Public Relations and Fundraising Managers

Advertising, Promotions, and Marketing Managers

Doane Owl

The Doane Owl is the student newspaper of Doane University and is the oldest continuous University newspaper in Nebraska.
All of the historic issues of the Doane Owl are available online.  The database is searchable:  
The weekly paper is published on Thursdays by students and distributed to the Doane community. Any Doane student, regardless of major, is welcomed to join the newspaper staff. Paid positions are available and students may receive academic credit for the work. Opportunities include: news and sports reporting, feature writing, editorial or commentary writing, editing, designing pages, selling and designing advertisements, business management, photography, production, graphic design, and digital imaging.
